GAME ONE the first day The elevator doors slide open with a gentle ping, and inexplicably, you find yourself inside a bar overlooking an impossible city view. Depending on your constitution, you may feel your knees begin to buckle, and fortunately several plush chairs are ready to accommodate both drunkards and weary travelers alike. Waist-high tables stocked with water and high-caliber champagne are dotted across the bar's lounge -- perhaps you will help yourself to some refreshments? Small alcoves flow off the main interior of the lounge, leading to seventeen tiny, tiny rooms with an uncomfortable (but nice looking) cot for each person still in play. The rooms even have each player's name etched above them in delicate cursive, signaling who belongs where. if you feel like investigating your room, you may decide that its interior leaves much to be desired. But most importantly, as you enter the lounge, a thin blond woman, who would perhaps be quite beautiful if it weren't for the permanent grimace across her face, will hand you a thick sheet of card stock with the game's rules stamped across it in gold foil. "You have until this evening to cast your first suspicions," she says to you, her clipped tone markedly unpleasant. "The wolves will meet in secret, of course, and the veterinarian may leave their protection anonymously. The last special role in play, the lovers, are encouraged to keep their circumstances secret." Why, of course I am! I'm a witch, after all! But that makes perfect sense, Geir my dear! I don't know if Eizen would be quite as cheery as you are.

Is Eizen a gloomy person? He should probably cheer up if he comes to play! I think this is supposed to be a game.

Aye! [She says, mocking the pirate a bit.] Well, not exactly, if I'm to be truthful. But he wouldn't take the whole turning into a dragon thing in stride as you have!

I don't see why not.

[tilts his head while he thinks about it]

Wait, he turned into one? How did he do that? There's a lot of me. If he's your size, it must've been an effort.

[mayvin]

Oh, it's nothing for you to worry about! Just a little old matter between friends, that's all!

A friend of yours, huh. Guess I'll keep an eye out for him.

[mayvin]

You'll either see another dragon or a man with blonde hair dressed all in black. Probably mumbling to himself about some coin.

Is the coin valuable? This might get interesting after all...

Oh definitely not. It's rigged. Not even good for a simple coin toss.

Too bad. I wish there was more treasure around here.

[looks around the room wistfully.]

Hey, what's your name, anyway?

Oh, so you're that type of dragon, huh?

[She figures he's probably not a malak at all, at this point. But a dragon obsessed with treasure? Sounds a bit like a storybook.]

My name? Oh, are you ready? It's quite the revelation! I am pleased to introduce to you...

The comedienne whose shows have sold out all over Midgand, the witch who cannot be contained by any ordinary prison... The illustrious! The acclaimed!

That's so long, but it doesn't even mean anything. Did you just make it up?

What? Of course not! And of course, it means something! It's my name! And I'll have you know it's a perfectly acceptable name for a great witch such as myself!

[he seems pleased enough with the conversation, wings and tail relaxed, tracking Magilou's gestures attentively with his eyes. a thought visibly occurs to him as Magilou repeats her statement about witchery.]

--oh, right, you're a witch! You should show us some magic tricks!

[mayvin]

Well, should and could are two very different words, my dear Geir. I could show everyone an impressive, incredible display of magic! But what good would that do me?

[Also, anything she tried doing now wouldn't be as impressive as she'd like.]

Maybe, just maybe I'll put on a show later. I do have to make a living somehow, you know!
